Description
I’m Lookin’ Good is an original piece from my ongoing Aroostook River Illustrations series, where my artwork is combined with natural materials I personally collect from the Aroostook River in Caribou, Maine.
This piece began with an unusual riverbank find, an animal tooth from a skull I discovered along the Aroostook River. Rather than simply incorporating it into the artwork, I gave it a personality. The little tooth proudly admires itself in a real dental mouth mirror, creating a playful scene inspired by both nature and dentistry.
I created the illustration by hand using gouache and ink, then added the tooth and dental mirror to bring the scene into three dimensions. The result is a one of a kind piece that is a little quirky, a little unexpected, and especially fitting for anyone who works in dentistry or simply appreciates unusual nature inspired art.
