In the Silence of the Starry Night Sky…
Have you ever gazed at the night sky and felt a deep connection to the stars? It’s a magical experience, one that many of us cherish. This magical connection is precisely what I aim to capture in my art. Today, I want to take you on a journey through two of my cherished art pieces, “La Lune” and “Look at the Stars,” and share the stories that inspired them.
“La Lune” – A Tribute to Cherished Childhood Memories
Imagine the quiet serenity of a starry, full-moon night sky. In this enchanting setting, “La Lune” was born. This piece holds a special place in my heart, as it was created during my cancer treatment. It’s a tribute to cherished memories from my childhood.
The centerpiece of “La Lune” is a pair of white birds, one larger and one smaller. These birds symbolize the enduring connection between generations, a testament that family bonds are never truly broken, even when one embarks on a journey beyond the stars.
As a child, I spoke French, and whenever our family spotted a full moon during our car rides, I would excitedly exclaim, “La Lune! La Lune!” This connection and cherished memory of the night sky were crafted during a time when I had one surviving parent. “La Lune” is not just a piece of art; it’s a tribute to the love and memories that shaped my life.
“Look at the Stars” – A Glimpse into Solitude and Love
Sometimes, the most profound art is born in moments of solitude and reflection. “Look at the Stars” is a poignant representation of the silence that follows profound loss. In this piece, a single white bird gazes at the full moon, contemplating the vastness of the universe.
This artwork serves as a reminder that even in solitude, the presence of our loved ones can be felt in the quiet moments under the moonlight. “Look at the Stars” emerged from the depths of my heart, created after the loss of my mother. The title of the piece is inspired by the song “Yellow” by Coldplay, which happened to be her favorite color and a song that will forever remind me of her.
“La Lune” and “Look at the Stars” are more than just art pieces; they are windows to my soul’s journey through life’s beautiful and challenging moments. Each stroke of the brush, each carefully chosen element, and each choice of colors is a reflection of the emotions and memories that have shaped me.
These pieces have found their homes— “La Lune” in the heart of Maine and “Look at the Stars” in the embrace of Vermont. Each of them has its own unique story to tell, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to share them with the world.
