Why I Started Turning My Art Into Stickers and Bookmarks

For a long time, my artwork existed mostly as my illustrations and paintings. I love creating, and I love art. I also understand that not everyone can or wants to bring home an original piece.

It was important to me that my artwork to felt reachable to everyone. That’s where stickers and bookmarks came in.

Turning my illustrations and paintings into stickers and bookmarks wasn’t about simplifying the art or making something disposable. It was about giving people a way to connect with the work in their everyday lives without breaking the bank. A sticker can live on a water bottle, a journal, a kayak, a laptop, or even a mailbox, quietly reminding someone of nature, calm, or a moment that mattered. A bookmark can live inside a favorite book, marking a page someone plans to return to.

I have stickers I made on my mailbox from last summer, and they look brand new! I also have one on the back of a dinner plate that goes through the dishwasher (often on the sanitary cycle on the bottom rack). You’d never know how many wash cycles it has endured, because it still looks new.

Stickers and bookmarks let my art travel and connect with people.

They allow someone to take a small piece of Riverbed Art without needing wall space, a frame, or a big decision. They’re easy to gift, easy to keep, and easy to enjoy. More bookmark designs are coming in 2026.

Each sticker and bookmark still begins with an illustration or painting. The difference is that instead of living in one place, these pieces get to move through the world. They get used and become part of someone’s routine.

As an artist, that matters to me. Art connects people, whether it’s music, a painting, or a story. Art has the ability to bring us together, to create connection, and to help us feel seen.

Artwork doesn’t always have to be precious. Sometimes it’s meant to be touched, carried, and lived with. Stickers and bookmarks give my work that freedom, and they give people a simple way to enjoy art without a big financial decision.

That’s why I make them. As much as I would love to own many original pieces from many other artists, it isn’t always within my budget, but bookmarks and stickers are.

These little pieces offer another way for art to exist and be enjoyed. A small, affordable, meaningful way to spread joy.
