Why Black Glass?

Pirate glass, often referred to as “black glass” due to its deep, opaque appearance, was a popular choice for bottle production from the 17th to the 19th centuries. The dark color helped protect the contents from light exposure, preserving the quality and potency of the liquids inside. Today, pieces of pirate glass are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts, treasured for their beauty and historical significance.

The Transformation

One of the most enchanting features of black glass is its ability to change color when held to the light. What appears as a solid, dark surface can reveal a beautiful amber, green, or purple hue. This transformation symbolizes the unveiling of history and the hidden stories within.
