Description
Some moments feel curious, playful, and quietly full of life.
Ermie captures a white ermine standing upright on a moss-covered stump in the snowy woods of northern Maine. Painted in watercolor and gouache with soft whites, winter greens, and cool forest tones, her bright expression and upright posture give the piece a playful sense of personality and alert curiosity.
The idea for Ermie came from a dream I once had of an ermine inside our home, perhaps inspired by the many encounters people living in northern Maine have had with these curious little animals. My love of moss-covered forest stumps, northern Maine winters, and their adorable little noses helped bring this scene to life.
